(ΔΔCT: the difference of the average ΔCT value of the fullerene-exposed group and the average ΔCT of the negative control group). An asterisk indicates a statistically significant difference of P < 0.05 compared to each negative control group; double asterisk, of P < 0.01 compared to each negative control group. Fullerene nanoparticles transiently induced the gene expression of CINC-1 and CINC-2αβ in the lung. Nickel oxide nanoparticles (reference material) persistently increased in the gene expression of CINC-1 and CINC-2αβ mRNA not only in the acute phase but chronic phase.
