Mesothelial surfaces of the parietal pleura 1 week post injection of AgNW 5 and AgNW 10 . Mesothelial cell layer of the parietal pleura after AgNW5 (A) and AgNW10 (B) exposure. AgNWs can be seen on the surface of the mesothelial layer as indicated by the black arrow. These AgNW are also partly taken up by mesothelial cells as indicated by the white arrow. The morphology of the nanofibres on the mesothelial layer appears intact.
