Cytospin images from the lavage fluid 24 hour post aspiration illustrates the complete uptake of shorter fibres including SFA (B), AgNW3 (D), AgNW5 (E) and AgNW10 (F) whereas LFA (C) and AgNW14 (G) lead to frustrated phagocytosis in alveolar macrophages.
