Basic configuration of a system for exposing cells to aerosolized substances at the ALI. Such a system requires an aerosol generator and an exposure chamber. Clean air controls may be incorporated as well as a means to quantify the cellular dose (e.g., using a quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) and/or electron microscopy (EM) grids) to relate the outcomes to human-relevant exposures
