Kidney antioxidants decreased at the end of the eight weeks of PM2.5 exposure. After eight exposure weeks (4 days/week, 5 h/ day) in kidney rats we observed a decrement of the antioxidant nuclear transcription factor (Nrf-2) (a), and antioxidant enzymes such as mitochondrial superoxide dismutase (SOD-2) and hemoxygenase type-1 (HO-1), (b) and (c) respectively.
