Western blotting showing the levels of phosphorylated VE-cadherin at tyrosine 731 residue (pY731-VEC) in HUVECs at different conditions. a, representative electrophoretic bands of western blots. b, semiquantitative analysis of pY731-VEC levels. Both SiNP-20 and SiNP-100 (100 μg/mL) exposure for 6 h significantly increased the level of pY731-VEC. * p < 0.05, ** p < 0.001 vs. control, respectively for SiNP-20 and SiNP-100. This effect was abolished by PP1, a selective inhibitor of Src family tyrosine kinase (* p < 0.05 vs. SiNP-20 or SiNP-100 alone). These results suggested that SiNPs increased the phosphorylation of VE-cadherin via activating Src tyrosine kinase
