The first two principal components (PC), PC1 and PC2, define the x- and y-axes of the scatter plots, respectively. The distance between two materials reflects the proximity in physicochemical properties between them. PC1, PC2 and PC3 together accounted for ~ 71, 68 and 82% of the contribution to the variance in the case of all characterization, L-W-AR binning and means only, respectively.
