Cytokine changes in the blood plasma of mice following 30-day MWCNT exposure + 10 days recovery. Heparinized blood was used to assess a panel of analytes. The MesoScale Discovery (MSD) system was used to assay for multiple analytes in a single sample. In the figure above, there was a significant observed increase in several inflammatory mediators including a IFN-γ, b IL-10, and c IL-1β, d IL-33, e IL-6, and f TNF-α. Asterisks * indicate statistical significance at P < 0.05, or ** where P < 0.01 or *** where P < 0.001 compared to corresponding ‘air’ control by Holm-Sydak post-hoc analyses.
