The effect of pretreatment of the CWAAP-A-exposed rats with clodronate liposomes (to deplete macrophages) or polymorphonuclear leukocytes (PMN)-neutralizing antibodies (to deplete neutrophils) on BALF cells. Male rats were given a single intratracheal dose of clodronate liposomes (1 ml/kg), or a single intravenous injection of PMN antibodies (0.5 ml/kg). They were then exposed to 10 mg/m3 of CWAAP-A for 6 h and sacrificed the next day for analysis. The results of BALF cytospin cytology without and with CWAAP-A exposure are shown in A and B, respectively
