The formation of a protein corona (mucin) on nanoplastics alters the intracellular fate and final destinations of the particles. PS@Bap with mucin corona was internalized into lysosomes in A549 cells via endocytosis. The mucin corona is stable at the early stages and degrades in the maturation of lysosomes, altering the intracellular trafficking of PS@Bap and the release of Bap from PS.
