Aggregates of silver (green) are found within the cytoplasm of Iba-1+ Kupffer cells (red) (white arrows) only in AgNP-treated mice. Rarely, small numbers of silver aggregates are found outside Kupffer cells (yellow arrow), most likely in the cytoplasm of endothelial cells or hepatocytes.
