Total QD cadmium recovered in Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS) quantitative analysis of QD skin penetration. AAS analysis of Cd from QDs measured in the skin (intracutaneous), remaining on the skin wiped with gauze (epicutaneous) and all organ samples compared to the total applied. The average dose topically applied to each mouse was 10.96 +/- 1.21 μg Cd. The total Cd recovered for each treatment ranged from 66.3 to 73.6% of total applied dose. The graph represents the mean +/- standard error (SEM) of the total recovery percentage, N = 4. After a Kruskal-wallis test, no significant differences were found between the treatment groups for percentage of total cadmium recovered
