Nanoparticles increased calcium concentration. Concentrations of 13 metals were measured in cardiac tissue from either control or rats exposed to E171 and ZnO NPs. Tissues were analyzed by inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES). Manganese, selenium, molybdenum and titanium were not detected in hearts. Results are expressed as mean ± SD of three rats is shown. * p < 0.05 versus control
